What is a miracle?
1. an effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause.
3. a wonder; marvel.
4. a wonderful or surpassing example of some quality: a miracle of modern acoustics.
That is the explanation provided by the dictionary. If you look up miracle in a concordance there are only 15 uses of that actual term miracle. But in my own life, and as I go through day after day, I feel that miracles are all around us!! I think we are where we are for a reason. Whether it was something we planned forever or knew was coming all our life, or a complete surprise or accident, I believe that every step of our lives are miracles.
Sure there are huge things, like spending 3 months in the hospital with strep pneumonia and nothing working to treat and cure the ailment. On the verge of a collapsed lung, to finding a fix and pulling through for a FULL recovery. Sure that's a miracle!
Hit full on by a car in elementary school, with nothing wrong other then a few scratches and a little shook up. Sure that's a miracle!
But what about the time you were running errands. Went through a major intersection just fine. On your way back even just minutes later and you see a HUGE wreck right where you had gone through. You don't think that's a miracle that you were not in the middle of that???
Ever have a need that was met in an unlikely place? Knew we were going to need another high chair for the girls. A guy at my new job knew I had kiddos and randomly asked "hey, we're cleaning out and have a high chair we'd like to get rid of". You don't think the fact that you got that job and was in the right place at the right time??
My mom in law had pretty major surgery about 6 weeks ago. Their dryer went out and she can't really take laundry up and down stairs to get outside, or to the laundromat etc. She came to pick up the girls yesterday and mentioned it. I jumped on good ol' Craig's list and not only did we find a descent dryer for $25 it was literally across the street from my house. I'm NOT kidding! Miracle??
I believe that they surround us! I believe that our steps are ordered of God and b/c they come from his power and his direction, every one of those steps are a miracle. If you stop to look around I believe there is a miracle for you to be grateful for! Even in the worst of times, there is something that could have gone differently. And, because your experience wasn't worse then it was you were a recipient of a miracle gift wrapped just for YOU!
Anyone that has experienced any part of birth has to believe in miracles. The human body in general is a way to consider miracles. I find it miraculous to look at this complex being to function together so well.
I think if we approach life as a chance to experience miracles it makes the day a little brighter. No matter how dark of a place you may have been... You can look around and see God in any situation. And once you find him it is easier to cling to him, and allow him to guide you through the rest of that struggle.
